It’s been a few weeks since our last update from the Rationally BASED podcast. We have some exciting content coming up, including a Supreme Court preview, a rundown of the big immigration question of the day — does it violate “due process” to detain people who are not entitled to be here? — and a big question involving academia: Is it constitutional to prohibit teaching DEI, or does that violate the First Amendment (or some other norm about academic freedom)?

As for the two recent episodes we did, the latest one was all about elections. In light of the recent 6-3 campaign finance decision, we talk a lot about Citizens United. Surprisingly, Josh and Ilan see things a bit differently, and the conversation turned to the detrimental effect corporate power has had on our politics and culture. Tune in!

Even more controversially, perhaps, the week before Ilan and Kathryn dove into a bunch of controversy that has embroiled Ilan. Is it sensible to call out the Democrats for supporting still more barfare and lawfare because of Trump’s anti-weaponization fund, when Obama’s lawyers effectively did the same thing? Ilan and Kathryn explain the similarities.
And then, is it racist to say that not all cultures, currently, are equally capable of democratic self-government? And that it might in fact be highly problematic to allow into this country a large numbers of individuals from such other cultures without proper acculturation? The answers are obvious to most people, but you’d be surprised how some academics think otherwise.
